  1. The Kohler Advantage • Energy Savings • Starch Savings • Dryer, Firmer Board • Less Wash Boarding For Better Printing • Higher ECT Results • Fiber Savings

  2. ISO-BARGlue Machine AUTO PRESSURE/GAP CONTACT ROLL SYSTEM

  3. The Average Corrugator Consumes an Enormous Amount of Energy and Starch In Order to Generate Steam and Bond Paper Depending on speed, hours of operation and fuel & starch costs: The energy bill can be$250,000 - $1,000,000 The starch bill can be $500,000-$1,500,000

  4. How Do We Achieve Large Energy Savings? • Free water requires 970 btu’s of energy to evaporate 1 pound of water. • Water on the surface of paper requires 1,500 to 2,500 btu’s to evaporate 1 pound of water. • Water embedded in paper fibres requires 3,500 to 5,000 btu’s to evaporate 1 pound. • By cutting down on the moisture in the board, we require far less energy to complete the bonding and drying process.

  5. What About Starch Savings? Provides the ability to accurately reduce adhesive film thickness below 0.0005 inches • Eliminates glue slinging and waste • Reduces glue consumption • Produces stronger board

  6. TFM – Rod Metering

  7. LOWER SOLIDS, LESS DRY WEIGHT AND A STRONGER BOND? YES! Provided We Properly Wet Out The Bond Surfaces.

  8. A Wider, Thinner Glue Line Is Inherently Stronger Than A Narrower, Thicker Glue Line

  9. This requires as thin a film as possible on the glue roll with a high surface speed differential between the flute tip and the glue roll. It also requires a higher nip force to scrub the glue off the roll surface (particularly with micro flutes) and smear the glue into the valleys for complete wetting.

  10. To our knowledge only the ISO-BAR glue machine has these capabilities.

  11. ISO-BAR Glue Machines Can Reduce Glue Weight By Independently Reducing Glue Line Height. As the glue line gets shorter, it can remain at the optimum width

  12. HOT PLATE STEAM PRESSURESBEFORE AND AFTER ISO-BAR INSTALLATIONPRESSURES ARE IN BAR & (PSI)

  13. The Bottom Line • Energy savings of up to 30% or more • Starch costs are rising dramatically. We can save up to 40% of current starch costs • Less wash boarding for better print quality • Board will be drier and more firm for better converting efficiency • Board tests and caliper will be improved • If corn starch becomes unavailable, we can run PVA and other adhesives • Run micro flutes with no blistering
