  3. The big question- Where is Monash Churchill? • Less than 2 hours South East of Melbourne CBD – by road or by rail. Based in the Latrobe Valley and Strezelecki Ranges, on the Monash Freeway Located on 63 hectares of landscaped grounds • Advantages of this location: • Still in close proximity to Melbourne - approx 150kms from Melbourne CBD / less than 2 hours. • Only an hour from the SNOW and some of the best beaches in Australia. • Surrounded by National Parks, Lakes and Mountains.

  4. Who is Monash Churchill? • A regional campus composed of: • Over 2000 On campus students > With plans to increase by 1000 more over 3 years • Over 5000 Off campus / Distance Education Students • An active Postgraduate community • Over 20% International students

Where have we come from? • Born from the request of local industry, the Yallourn Technical College was opened on the 28 May, 1928 • In recognition of the need for a local advanced education facility, the Technical College was developed into Gippsland Institute of Advanced Education, 20 November 1976 • July 1 1990, the Gippsland Institute of Advanced Education became Monash University College at Gippsland • Monash College Gippsland fully integrated into Monash University structure; January 1, 1993

We stand for the representation, advocacy and involvement of Monash University students at Gippsland, and for the protection of student rights to an equitable and affordable education. We provide services, events and products essential to the student experience- from band nights to information sessions, short courses and safe spaces for all demographics. Established in1972, MUGSU has been restructured and rejuvenated. 35 years on, MUGSU has stronger members, a stronger focus and greater dedication to the protection of student rights than ever before. Areas for Improvement:What do our students need? • People don’t know who or where we are! • Perception that Degrees attained at Gippsland are of less value than those of city-based counterparts. • A separate space for GEP students • Sport and recreation facilities that are usable, affordable and suitable to the needs of the University community. • Better public transport after hours • More after-hours activities • More exposure to career and employment opportunities

What do the students of Gippsland need? • A developed space- proposed in the 7N Area, for Post Graduate and International Students recreation and general usage. • Increased availability of prescribed reading materials in the library • Greater, healthier range of food choices available at existing food services on campus. • Greater support for Monash’s only regional campus, from its better known city counterparts. • Updating on campus accommodation
