The internment of Japanese-Americans


A substantial sign understanding "I am an American," put in the window of a store the day after the assault on Pearl Harbor, at thirteenth and Franklin boulevards in Oakland. The store was later shut after official requests that people of Japanese plummet clear from certain West Coast zones. The proprietor, a University of California graduate, was housed in War Relocation Authority community for the term of the war.
