  1. Small things you can do to make big impact on Environment

The 3 R’s of environmental protection- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
  2. The 1st R - Reduce Drive Efficiently -  drive a fuel efficient car, and don’t drive it more than you really need to! Think before you print or photocopy! When you must print or copy, do it double-sided, Edit on screen, not on paper Use natural lights Don’t use power strips to turn on all computers and desk equipment at once Don’t use screen saver Park your car in the shade Turn off unused lights Turn off water while brushing your teeth Use e-mail to minimize paper use Always make sure that your car has got pollution control certificate Reduce margin in word Try drinking tap water instead of bottled water, so you are not wasting all that packaging Move your refrigerator away from wall
  3. The 2nd R - Reuse Buy product in refillable containers e.g. washing powder, coffee, tea etc. Use canvas or cloth bags when shopping Take along lunchbox or tiffin when buying takeaways Use rechargeable batteries and refillable print cartridge Repair rather than replace Reusing clothes Reuse of egg carton Rain water harvesting Reusing things, such as Ziploc bags, tinfoil, plastic utensils, etc. Secondhand is not always second best. Reuse of old plastic buckets Reuse of empty bottles and old glasses Basket made of rappers
  4. The 3rd R - Recycle Use recycled papers, Production of recycled paper uses only half the water and 3/4 of the energy than new paper Recycled glass reduces related air pollution by 20 percent and related water pollution by 50 percent. If it isn't recycled it can take a million years to decompose. If you recycle cans, the energy used and air pollution created, is 95 percent less than if the cans were produced from raw materials.  Recycle Electronic items
