  2. Work Importance • Work and job play a key role in the life of any individual • Also according to Sigmund Freud job constitutes a bond through which we are bonded with reality • Starting and termination of economic activity make one of the most important issues in man’s life • If we do not work, we our minds will get sick by fantasies, emotions and deprivations

  3. Influence of Unemployment on Individual • Psychical deprivation from own failure • Destruction of the day’s structure (even worse in case of passive individuals) • More tragic for men (bread-winner and protector of the family) • If a man does not succeed in seek for job within 3 months, the depressions, feeling of uselessness, he will became to be apatic, aggressive (escalation of alcohol consumption), he looses to take care about himself, and attends the interviews.

  4. Influence of Unemployment on Individual • Difficulties in the family, of relatives, and neighbors • He will lose his authority (e.g.. He will not contribute to the family budget) • Damage of the family pattern and the works division • Destruction of family relations • Social isolation of the individual (depends on age – more important in case of elderly people)

  5. Influence of Unemployment on Individual • Influence to reproductive behavior of individual (decrease of number of weddings, increase of the age of marriage, decrease of natality etc.) • Worsening of health (psychical, as well as physical ones, including broken self-awareness, lower level of feeling of happiness and sense of way of life) • Feelings of worry about future

  6. Influence of Unemployment on Individual • It came the feelings of inferiority, frustration, anxiety, depressions, disorders of the sleeping, stresses and others) • Many people try to hide the status of unemployed before their family, friends, neighbors… • Some of them reject to take an inferior work, out of chosen profession (professional fall, stagnation, personal retardation)

  7. Influence of Unemployment on Individual • Damage of day’s regime • Loosing labor habits • Loosing social contacts • Dominance of the feelings of underestimation and failure

  8. Long-term unemployment is influenced by • Low interest or just discrimination of pertinent groups of people by employers • Low interest in low-paid jobs among job seekers • Value-orientation of some groups of job-seekers (not interested in work, depending on social security support) • Insufficient qualification, low level of work expe-rience, insufficient self-awareness • Objective issues (travelling for work, accommo-dation, etc.) • Subjective issues (deterioration of health, etc.)

  9. Influence on Individual • In case of long-term unemployment a number of individuals will loose their social position up to homelessness and they become to be unemployable • Let us say generally that the more educated, more active and more flexible individuals will find a new job faster

  10. Development of Unemployment • Unemployment, as an obvious post-revolutionary issue, showed naturally also in the Czech Republic after 1989 • At the brake of the era the unemployment reached around 8.9 p.c. (it corresponds with approximately 470 000 unemployed people) • In 2008 it decreased to about 5.0 p.c. • In January 2009 due to the global recession at approximately 6.0 p.c. • Actual figures raised up to 8.7 p.c.

  11. Dangerous Actual Trends • Increase in number of long-term people unemployed not by their own fault (lack of free jobs) • Fresh graduates primarily not able to find a job in their specialization • Increasing number of socially inadaptable individuals (homeless people, beggars) – often situations without solution

  12. Young People • Do not posses enough experience • At first, it is important, they will understand themselves, which kind of work and in which sector they would like to join, based upon their education, health, personal profile, etc. • Chose a profession and environment according with their own consideration

  13. Labor Opportunities for People over the Age of 45 • For those over 45, who worked for a lot of years, the situation with seeking an adequate job remains much more complicated • In their case the first step needed consist in self-evaluation (education, skills, experience, personal profile, health, family, physical abilities, own needs etc.),in trying to put true data about himself/herself in order in accordance with chosen profession – what is the individual able still to do – and to assign them to the new, actually offered, possibilities

  39. Conclusion from examination in practice • The firs reactions of the present clients were slightly critical (mainly of people over 45), but this could be expected in the actual economic situation. • This ceased at the moment, when they recognized that it is suitably tailored help, e.g. in training of situations in interviews etc. • To our surprise only a small part of the clients had any imagine, what they could exactly do. This was probably given by the fact that they had worked at the same job for many years (obviously for one employer all the life).

  40. Conclusion from examination in practice • At the new situation of unemployment they do not know, how to behave, what to do. This obstacles and doubts were solved by the help of module Self-confidence (to think about themselves, to examine own abilities and skills, to formulate the offer for prospective employer). • We recognized as important for clients to learn how to recognize, what they want, or what the do not want, eventually what they can or can not; especially with respect to their personal situation, travel distances, health conditions etc..

  41. Conclusion from examination in practice • Particularly the tasks focused to the issues of interview, in the form of questions and their solving, were appreciated as the best • Also the practice in motivation letter writing runs into a good feed back by the participants, as well as the CV writing.

  42. Utilization of manuals (separate modules) differs according to age category of clients.. Clients over 45: • Generally, the clients over 45 have difficulties to work with computer literacy (to work on them, to browse on Internet, gainany informationetc.) • Unfortunately, also their knowledge of foreign languages is rather low, they do not recognize its importance • They are quite passive, showing less activity in search about the new job

  43. Clients over 45: • They are faced with some issues when writing CV and motivation letters • They are afraid of interviews with prospective employers; in case of fall they are shocked and depressed • Many of them are handicapped • Some of them are on alcohol or even on drugs

  44. Clients up to 25: • The job-seekers are educated in computer literacy • They posses better orientation in Internet in searching information and obtaining the job offers by this media • They are better educated in foreign languages, and practice in their use

  45. Clients up to 25: • Many of them know, how to write CV, but most of them do not write a proper motivation letter • They have nearly no experience with interviews, they are worried about possible questions • They do not posses working habits and experience from previous occupations

  46. The reminders to the Czech version of „JobTool“ Manual: • Black work is strictly forbidden. Especially when registered at the Labor Office or receiving benefits. • We can recommend to unemployed to include into CV information about being registered at Labor Office, because the employer can be financially supported from public sources.

  47. The reminders to the Czech version of „JobTool“ Manual: • Participation at the re-qualification courses is very gainful. A client obtains new skills, and the time limits for support in unemployment will be prolonged for the time of the attended course. • All the tasks and issues of pertinent modules, including CD-ROMs, are created excellently; questions to the interview are actually and well shaped in the way, the client could suppose, what will be the subject of interview, how to prepare for it, as well as how to react.
