  2. What do land crabs look like? • Crabs have ten legs • A hard shell (that is really a skeleton)

  3. Where do land crabs live? • Rocky, muddy or sandy seashores all over the world • Salt ponds • Wetlands • Marshes Crabs only live in marshes and wetlands in places with a warm climate.

  4. Holes Burrows Crabs make holes and or burrows that lead to a larger living are were the crabs store food and water. What are some possible homes for crabs?

  5. How do land crabs take in nutrients? • When land crabs find their prey, they pull the soft part out of the body • Then, the crab lifts the food up to it’s mouth, and it’s mouthparts tear it apart and eat it

  6. What are some important things about the land crab’s growth? • A lot of crabs hatch, but most of them don’t make it • When they are born, they don’t look at all like crabs • Two or three weeks later, the Zoea, or baby crabs, start to look like crabs

  7. What are some interesting facts about land crabs? • They are scavengers • When crabs pinch people with their claws, they fall off and eventually the crabs grow back new claws • There are 45,000 types of crabs • People eat crabs (they are best with melted butter)
