  4. Service Definition • Service is the work that is done for others. It includes “hands on” time that makes up a club’s service hours. (Ex. Donated time at a Domestic Violence Shelter)

  5. Fund Raising Definition • Fund Raising is the action a club takes to raise funds (money) to be used for financial support to Local • Service Projects and Zonta International Service Projects

  6. Zonta International Mission Statement To advance the status of Women worldwide

  7. A Zonta Club’s Service Project should reflect and enhance the mission of Zonta International.

  8. Objectives (Goals) of Zonta International Service Programs Seeks to: Improve the legal, political, economic, educational, health, and professional status of women at the global and/or local level through service and advocacy

  9. Characteristics of a Successful Service Project ____ Improves a woman’s Economic condition (ex. Skill training, marketing goods) ____ Improves a woman’s Education ____ Improves a woman’s Health Care (HIV/AIDS maternal education) ____ Improves Youth Development (ex. Z Clubs, girl child events) ____ Improves a woman’s Legal & Political Rights (ex. domestic violence laws) ____ Attempts to end Violence Against Women (ex. DV shelter work) ____ Project focus is on the status of women rather than a generic community project ____ Service Project increases the visibility of Zonta in the community ____ Service Project attracts new members

  12. Have each table discuss: 1) What are the Service Projects initiated by your club? 2) Which Characteristics of a successful Service Project did your project address? Explain how.

  13. 3) Does your Service Project focus on the status women rather than a generic community project? 4)How does the Service Project increase the visibility of Zonta in your community? 5) Did your club encounter any challenges to the Service Project? How were they overcome? 6)At your table, what two Service Projects were most successful at meeting the Mission of Zonta International and why?

  14. Your Clubs Service Projects What are the Service Projects initiated by your club? Which characteristics of a successful Service Project are addressed by your service project? Explain how? Does your Service Project focus on the status women rather than a generic community project? How does the Service Project increase the visibility of Zonta in your community? Did your club encounter any challenges to the Service Project? How were they overcome? Come to a consensus at your table to the two Service Projects that were most successful at meeting the Mission of Zonta International and why?
