  1. Competitive Off-season 3rd Session – February 25 U9/U10 – Dribbling Ball Striking

  2. When you get there • Session will be Play (10-15minutes) – Work (30-40 minutes) – Play (10-15 minutes) • Take attendance by putting your initials next to players in your group • If there is an NP next to a players name for team please give an opinion on the level the player should be playing at (Maroon (better) or Gold) • Hand your attendance sheet at the end to Brian Kallman • Coaches will have groups of 6 to start and then will get players added to their group – Once you have 8 players begin the session • Focus on details the more detailed and specific you are with your teaching and feedback the better our players will develop • “I like how you used your laces and struck thru the center of the ball” is better then “Nice hit of the that ball” • Some groups you will need to provide the energy so be prepared with a few silly things mixed in but get back to business ASAP

  3. Field Map

  4. Key • Coach • Players • Players w/ball • Cones • Balls • Pugg • Goal

  5. Play – Hit ball off Split the players onto two teams Play 3v3 to start and play no larger then 5v5 with a few subs if necessary. Make sure to adjust the field a little more space is better then too small Have a pile of balls near each end line when you run out of balls go collect Goals are scored by hitting cones on end line KEYS Look for opportunities to shoot Can players shoot on the move

  6. Activity 1 – Continuous Knock-out Every player has a ball Players are trying to knock other players ball out of the space using the pass When this happens knocked out players move to other space Players will alternate between the large space and the small space Once a player has been knocked out of both they should find you for some type of soccernastics then go back to the large space to start again Toe taps Bounce catch Pull backs alternating feet Etc. KEYS Control of ball As important not to get your ball hit (control) as it is for you to hit the ball My ball got hit out Go

  7. Activity 2 – Side-on and Shoot Couple of lines balls with servers Players will receive ball on the move but will need to turn to shoot Depending on the group you may need to add a chaser to keep it game speed If a chaser is added have them leave on the receiver of the passes 1st touch or if the group is good on the pass so the receiver must take their first touch to eliminate/restrict the defender KEYS Pass to the foot furthest up field so it is easiest to take touch and shoot Player receiving ball on the move with proper foot Where is touch – must get hips turned so that shooter has hips facing goal Ankle locked, surface to strike ball with Looking at the ball and where it is struck will naturally pull shoulders and chest over the ball Toe poke/push pass zone Drive the ball with laces zone

  8. Activity 3 – 3v3 Bread and Butter Three teams of 3 with 2 GKs – 2 teams play while one waits When a goal is scored team spins and attacks other direction Team that is scored is off the one on outside is on Make sure to switch out GKs every few rounds KEYS First touch of attacker can it eliminate the D or does it need to be tight to set up a move Shot – do you see a space to hit the ball Shot – surface choice Shot – Plant foot, hip snap, follow thru Toe poke/push pass zone Toe poke/push pass zone
