  • plasma – water matrix of blood

  • platelet – tiny packets of cytoplasm that contain enzymes and specific proteins in blood

  • lymph – interstitial fluid that enters lymph vessels

  • cartilage – firm gel; a supporting connective tissue

  • interstitial growth - a method of cartilage growth that enlarges cartilage from within

  • appositional growth – a method of cartilage growth that enlarges cartilage by adding new layers to the surface
