  1. Special LIBDre 2013 Long Shutdown: MKI’s Contributions by: Laurent Ducimetière and Noel Garrel LIBD: 12 April 2011

  2. MKI Work Foreseen for 2013 Long Shutdown: Group Hydraulic Pipes Ion Pump: potential interference with 3rd valve Hence: move Group Hydraulics pipes away from magnet interconnect B-C to permit use of VPIBpump (no elbow, hence higher pumping speed and allows 3 valves on adjacent MKI tanks). 2 valves 3 valves on Tank #10 No deadlines to be met concerning decisions, proto-types, testing, etc …. LIBD: 12 April 2011

  3. MKI Work Foreseen for 2013 Long Shutdown: Screen Conductors Investigating adding a “sphere” to end of each screen conductor to reduce voltage stress….. Copper tube: Non-Kicked Beam (NKB) Ceramic tube with screen conductors: Kicked Beam (KB) • Prototype/testing: • 5 new ceramic tubes ordered – expected ~June 2011. • Results of HV tests expected by June 2012 (see also next slide). LIBD: 12 April 2011

  4. MKI Work Foreseen for 2013 Long Shutdown: Possible Magnet Change(s)….. • One “new” magnet under preparation; • One “spare” magnet (tank #05) removed from MKI2 (B) during Christmas Technical Stop. Magnet to be opened up …. • Parts for 2 new magnets ordered. Delivery of parts expected end of 2011. • One magnet MKI might be replaced during next Christmas Technical Stop… or wait for tests on modified ceramic screen conductors (sphere)... • Prototype/testing/Plans: • ~80% of parts for a new magnet in stock, other ~20% of parts expected ~Nov. 2011. • Magnet to be built and tested with “sphere” on screen conductors (previous slide). • Depending on test results (with spheres), other MKI’s may be assembled with new ceramic tube. Installed MKI’s might, at a future date, therefore have ceramic tube replaced. LIBD: 12 April 2011

  5. MKI Work Foreseen for 2013 Long Shutdown: Possible Installation of Electron Cloud Coils between MKI’s Depending upon sources of electron cloud during 2011 operation, Electron Cloud Coils may be required to be installed between MKI’s. No deadlines to be met concerning decisions, proto-types, testing, etc …. LIBD: 12 April 2011
