  2. What is service learning? • Service learning is learning about ourselves through the activities we volunteer to do in our communities. It also teaches us responsibility and to care for our community.

  3. Why is Service Learning Important? -Teaches responsibility -Gives you a sense of self-worth -Helps the community

  4. For my service learning, I chose to volunteer at: -The Valdosta Goodwill Career Center

  5. Making Calls At Goodwill

  6. Sorting Papers

  7. Goodwill Career Center Good -Clean Environment -Helpful Staff -Fun Work Bad -Rude people on the telephone

  8. I also volunteered at Shiver Elementary School in Cairo, Georgia.

  9. Printing Names On Booklets

  10. Good and Bad -At Shiver, I really enjoyed the people that I volunteered for. They were very thankful for my time, and showed me their gratification. -The only bad that I experienced while at Shiver was getting a blister on my finger from writing so many names on the booklets.

  11. …and last but not least, I volunteered at a Twirling Camp.

  14. Good and Bad -I really enjoyed helping these girls perfect their skill, and come closer to reaching their goal of becoming a majorette on the high school majorette line. -It was really hot and muggy outside, and I was very sore the next day!

  15. Benefits of Service Learning Service learning really teaches people how to care for their communities. I know that I learned that I have a responsibility as a member of a community to volunteer and do my part in taking care of my surroundings. Service learning builds character, and makes everyone who participates in it a better person!
