How much will the total be? Estimate to the nearest dollar. 1. You want to buy 3 gallons of Edy’s Private Selection Icecream. How much will you spend? 2. You need 2 boxes of cereal. How much will you spend?

  3. Dividing Decimals… You are buying snacks for the class. You are making a salad for a dinner party. Each cucumber is 58 cents. You have spent $1.74 on cucumbers. How many cucumbers did you buy? • These Goldfish boxes are 2 FOR 6.99. How much is each box?

  4. You have been taken to another planet. • The head alien will not let you go home until you explain how to multiply and divide decimals. • Task: • Draw a step-by-step instruction manual on the following: • Multiplying decimals • Dividing Decimals • Your manual must have: • An example of each type of problem • Each step should be labeled.

(10 by 10 array). • On grid #1: draw the decimal that is represented vertically (up and down). • On grid #2: draw the decimal that is represented horizontally (side by side). • On grid #3: draw both decimals and show the product of overlapping colors. • What is the problem? What is the product?

(Green pencil) • Draw the second decimal side by side. (Blue Pencil) • Draw both decimals on the third grid with the same colors. • Count the colors that overlapped. • Write the problem • Write the product • Check your work by multiplying the decimals.
