  2. Albert Lea is in the 31% school districts in Minnesota that do not turn students away for failure to pay their lunch bill. We are exploring options for next year so that all students who attend Halverson Elementary will receive free breakfast and lunch as part of a federal meals program. This is due to the high percentage of students of currently qualify for free and reduced lunch. SAFE HEALTHY WELCOMING SCHOOLS

  3. Science Fair will be held February 22nd Destination Imagination will have a practice Regional held in Albert Lea, date TBD We have received Achievement Gap reduction data in Math and Reading from the MDE INCREASE OPPORTUNITY AND ACHIEVEMENT

  5. Because we have had significant issues at Lakeview with our heating system, we have researched the concept of upgrading the entire system similar to the other buildings. There is zero interest QZAB bond $ available from the state that we are pursuing. The timeline for the Lakeview upgrade would be the summer of 2015. Because of a new “green” program through the MDE, we have an opportunity to place solar panels on the roof of some of our buildings with a guaranteed 10 year pay off. Thoughts? EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT OPERATIONS
