What is Surrealism? • A movement in art that began in the 1920’s • Images had a surreal, dream-like quality that evoked fantasy • There are 4 main “tricks” Surrealists used when composing their images • Change the size of things • Change the place of things • Change the texture of things • Change the parts of things • Popular Artists • Salvador Dali • Renee Magritte • Joan Miro

  4. Digital artists have been able to take surrealism to a new level with photography and photo editing software

Your Task • Create a Surrealistic digital image using the tricks of the Surrealists • Change the size of things • Change the place of things • Change the parts of things • Change the texture of things • Come up with your idea first!
