  1. HE RUINED HIS BAD REPUTATION “Now Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord…” (Acts 9:1)

  2. Sounds Like A Country Song • And it was. Not very popular, but a young man was reformed by his girlfriend. • Saul earned his reputation, and that intentionally. • Acts 7:58-8:3; 9:1ff; Gal. 1:13; I Tim. 1:12-15. • So many follow in these bad steps. • Some in immaturity, some in wickedness or foolishness. • Thanks be to God, we have a multitude of examples of change.

  3. People Know Us • “We have heard of this man” 9:21. • Our reputation gains us initial fear, respect, adoration. • It may take many years to “live down” our past actions. • Don’t lose heart, if you’re heading in the right direction. • People are slow to win over, but God is a God of Second Chances.

  4. We May Need A Champion • How great is Barnabas – Acts 9:26-30 • Acts 4:36; 14:14; 15:36-39 • Many who change need a little help. • A source of guidance, or strength. • If you’ve received that, you have a debt • Rom. 1:14-16

  5. Seed of Change • Was in Saul. • So many are “rebels” who just don’t know any better. • 9:4-6 • A determination to do what he understood as right – 24:16 • Ananias didn’t have to work hard for this “conversion.”

  6. So Quick And Complete A Change • “And immediately in the synagogue he proclaimed Jesus…” 9:20 • Imagine the relief the church felt at Saul no longer being the enemy. • And the joy that this man is now God’s champion. • Gal. 1:23

  7. A Picture For Each of Us • We can change. • God will forgive. • The brethren will rejoice with us, eventually. • If, perhaps, for selfish reasons. • Now, maintain that “change” till death.
