  27. Staff • Mrs. Jones • Although I hate to admit it, I have now been qualified as a teacher for 22 years! I taught in the Flintshire and Wrexham areas of the UK for 14 years, mostly in KS2 until I had the family when I then moved to Early Years and Reception. I worked in two different primary schools when teaching KS2 and took part in five Outdoor Education trips in both schools with responsibility for the girls. These involved Years 5 and 6 children in activities such as rock climbing/abseiling, canoeing, orienteering, swimming and archery. I am really looking forward to taking many of my former students to Fujairah and know we will have a fantastic time. They are a great group of children and are accompanied by an experienced team of great staff too!

  28. Staff • Mr McMahon • As a parent and teacher I have always felt that ‘outdoor education’ is very important to all children. Even those who don’t usually enjoy active sports and pastimes can benefit a great deal from new experiences away from the usual classroom set-up. • As a primary school teacher I do not claim to be a qualified instructor in any particular activity but I have participated in a range of trips and led some interesting camps. • In the UK I have attended a number of adventure camps at recognised centres with children between the ages of 8 and 11 years old. During the camps the children completed a range of activities including; canoeing, caving, climbing and moor trekking. • Whilst working in Kenya I organised and led camps into the African bush – miles from civilisation! The children ranged in age from 7-13 years old. On these camps the children learnt basic camp craft, cooking, navigation etc. • Here in the Kingdom, I have participated in the International Award including an expedition to Oman and a camp in Riyadh.
