  2. Editing (1) • Look at the nouns. • Were articles (a / an / the) used where needed? • Look at the spelling. • Are there any mistakes?

  3. Editing (2) • Look at the adjectives. • Was more than one adjective used to describe Mr and Mrs Smith? • Look at the use of have / get something done. • Are these used correctly?

  4. Editing (3) • Look at the reported speech verbs. • Are different reported speech verbs used? • Suggest / Think of different verbs to use, if not used. • Look at the word order in reported speech sentences. • Is the word order correct?

  5. Editing – the big picture • With a partner, decide: • How you are going to consolidate your paragraphs. • What the topic sentence of each paragraph will be • How many paragraphs you will have • In which order the paragraphs will appear • Write notes on these.

  7. Mr & Mrs Smith’s story • How did they meet? • Where / when did they fall in love? • Where did they used to go on dates? Discuss the questions with your partners. Write one paragraph.

  8. Editing • Work with your partner to check the new paragraph. • Is used to used correctly? • Is the past tense used correctly? • Are there any spelling mistakes? • Are there any other mistakes? • Is there anything that should be added?

  9. Homework for Week 15 • How did Mr & Mrs Smith meet? (Week 14) • Tell me about their home renovations. (Weeks 9 and 10) • Tell me about their argument. (Week 11) • Rewrite the story with the corrections you made, and those requested by your peer-editing partner/s.

G&W Project 2: Due 14 June • Type up your homework. • Make the changes suggested while editing. • Make sure that the homework is divided into paragraphs, each with its own topic sentence. • Make sure the homework is double-spaced. • Write your name and student number at the top of the sheet. • Submit the homework via e-class.
