We are using Earth´s resources

faster than they can be replenished. Humanity´s ecological footprint is estimated at 1.5 Earths. We are “borrowing” resources from future generations, polluting heavily and putting pressure on tipping points in the natural system.

The law of conservation of mass tells us that waste remains on Earth. In the natural world the waste of one organism become nutrient for other organims.

Humans, on the other hand, produce enormous amounts of waste that nature can´t recycle and therefore it pollutes the environment.

We can´t “pay the loan” unless we live sustainably: Don´t use Earth´s resources faster than it can produce them. Lets use Earth´s resources wisely, that is, without preventing people in the future from using them.

But we can, with cooperation, good will and creativity reduce waste production.
