What is palm os

WHAT IS PALM OS?

  • It is a mobile operating system.

  • Its been used in smart phones, wrist watches, handheld game consoles, GPS devices etc.

  • Provides a software platform for any handheld PDAs made by Palm Inc.

  • Designed to fit palm size device of specific size and specific display size.

  • It uses TCP/IP network access.

    • Palm OS 1.0(1996)

    • Palm OS 2.0(March 10 1997)

    • Palm OS 5(June 2002)

    • Palm OS Cobalt (Feb 10 2004)

      • Palm OS 5.3 Simplified Chinese Edition - supports Simplified Chinese, adds support for QVGA resolutions, and API for virtual Graffiti

      • Palm OS Garnet (5.4) - provides support for multiple screen resolutions, ranging from 160x160 to 480x320, updated Bluetooth libraries.

      • Garnet OS 5.5 – designed mostly for Garnet VM virtual machine.
