AFP Foundation for Philanthropy Mission Statement The AFP Foundation for Philanthropy shall strive to enhance philanthropy and volunteerism through programs of education, research, and service that will benefit all those who lead, serve and support nonprofit institutions. Purpose The purpose of the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy is to generate the resources to fund AFP strategic initiatives that advance ethical and effective fundraising.

  4. Every Member Campaign (EMC) • The EMC is the largest component of the Foundation’s annual fund. • The 2011 EMC raised almost $454,000 • One of the goals of the EMC is to make sure every member is asked to make a gift to the campaign. • Each chapter in the United States has an annual EMC goal based on the previous year’s giving.

  5. Every Member Campaign (EMC) Why It Makes Sense To Give • Gives fundraisers a way to “give back” to the profession • How we help you • By supporting AFP as the primary resource for training fundraising professionals and leading advocate for philanthropy generally.

Chapter Treasury Campaign • The Chapter Treasury Campaign is part of the foundation’s annual fund. • It provides an opportunity for chapters to demonstrate support for the activities funded by the foundation • In 2011, the Chapter Treasury Campaign raised more than $97,000 from 156 chapters in the U.S. and Canada

EMC Chapter Partnership Grants The EMC Chapter Partnership Grant program shares the success of the Every Member Campaign by granting funds to support chapter activities that advance ethical and effective fundraising Chapters that meet/exceed their EMC goal by December 31 are eligible to submit an EMC Chapter Partnership Grant proposal. The EMC Chapter Partnership Grant represents 25 percent of the contributions received by January 6, 2011. The grant proposal and report (if your chapter received a grant in the year prior) are due on/about April 15.

EMC Chapter Partnership Grants • EMC Chapter Partnership Grants are distributed starting in May and continue through out the summer months.It is our policy to have all grant monies distributed no later than 120 days after the deadline of April 15th. • 116 U.S. chapters qualified to receive a 2011 EMC Chapter Partnership Grant totaling nearly $95,000.

  11. 100% Chapter Board Participation Chapter board members set a great example for their membership through their leadership, volunteerism and giving to AFP # of chapters who have achieved 100 percent chapter board participation since 2005: 2005 – 67 chapters 2006 – 67 chapters 2007 – 50 chapters 2008 – 43 chapters 2009 – 69 chapters 2010 – 64 chapters 2011 – 60 chapters

  12. 100 Percent Chapter Board Participation Recognition • Recognition in AFP eWire • Recognition at the 2012 Leadership Academy in Houston, Texas • Listing in the 2012 Annual Report • Recognition in the March/April 2013 issue of Advancing Philanthropy for chapters that achieve the goal by December 1, 2012 • Listing on the Foundation’s donor panel at the 2013 International Conference on Fundraising in San Diego.

  15. Foundation Communications The Steward is a newsletter for supporters and friends of the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy and AFP Foundation for Philanthropy – Canada. It is published semi-annually in the Spring and Fall. The Steward is mailed to donors of $250 or more, Alpha Society members, Omega Circle members, Chapter President’s and Foundation Development Chairs (FDCs). Foundation Communications AFP and the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy Annual Report The 2010 Annual Report was published at the end of July 2011 and has been mailed to donors of $250 or more, Alpha Society members, Omega Circle members, Chapter Presidents. It is also available online http://www.afpnet.org/files/ContentDocuments/2010AFPAnnualReport.pdf If you would like additional hard copies of the report, please contact the Foundation office.

  17. Foundation Communications Foundation Development Chair (FDC) Update e-newsletter sent to chapter FDC’s and chapter administrators mid-month throughout the year. It provides important information on the Every Member Campaign (EMC), reminders of upcoming deadlines and important dates, as well as other pertinent information on how to run the campaign
