  8. The CRUCIFIXION • Excruciate, which refers to something which causes great agony or torment. The Latin roots of the word are :"ex", meaning from or out of, and "cruciate", meaning cross. The word "excruciate" comes from the Latin for "from, or out of, the cross". •  Invented by the Persians – Perfected by the Romans • Terroristic torture, used as a public example to keep the Jewish people subjugated and fearful
