  2. WHAT IS ECSTACY? • Ecstasy is primarily the street name for the pill form of MDMA, • Ecstasy or MDMA is a synthetic drug that falls into two drug categories as an amphetamine type stimulant and as having hallucinogenic properties.

  3. Buyer Beware Ecstasy pills may contain a large range of substances, including ketamine and added amphetamine (speed).

  5. Are We There Yet? An MDMA pill takes effect after 20 to 40 minutes. The peak effects of MDMA are felt 60 to 90 minutes after ingestion and last for two to four hours, followed by a comedown.

  6. Historical Medical Uses MDMA first surfaced around 1914. It was thought that it could be used as an appetite suppressant.

  7. CLUB DRUG “E” is the most commonly used stimulant in dance clubs/raves.

  8. Short Term Effects • Decreased appetite • Increased blood pressure and heart rate • Increase in body temperature • Teeth grinding and jaw pain • Nausea and vomiting • Sleep Problems • False Sense of Affection

  9. Long Term Effects • Long- lasting brain damage affecting thought and memory • Depression • Kidney failure • Hemorrhaging • Psychosis • Convulsions • Death
