  3. SSC Verification Forms were due OCTOBER 4th, 2013 • If your school has not submitted their SSC forms, make sure to submit them ASAP. • Parent Involvement Policy due November 15th, 2013 • School-Parent Compact due November 15th, 2013 • Annual Meeting Sign-Ins and Agenda due November 22nd, 2013

  5. PARKING LOT! • Write down the questions you may have during the presentation and post in the parking lot. • Make sure to include your name, school name, and email address so we can email you an answer.

  6. Grounding Activity: Sample Parent Involvement Policy • During the next 7 minutes, read one of the Sample Parent Involvement Policies. • What are the biggest differences you noticed between the sample policies posted throughout the room and policies you have seen in the past?

  7. Objectives • Title I Coordinators will: • Have a tool on how to create/modify their school’s Parent Involvement Policy.

  8. 5 School Goals for Parent Engagement • Provide a welcoming environment for families ad invite them to participate as equal partner in the education of their children. • Provide parents opportunities to acquire necessary information, knowledge, and skills to support their children’s education at home and at school. • Engage parents in the school’s volunteer programso they can participate in supporting school-wide, classroom, and parent involvement activities. • Respond to parent concerns and/or complaintsto ensure child’s educational needs are met. • Comply with all LAUSD, State, and Federal requirements regarding parent involvement.

  10. Parent Involvement Policy Development Amazing School has been asked to develop a Parent Involvement Policy for the 2013-2014 school year. Today, you will be asked to help create the Parent Involvement Policy. • Individually, write down the ideas for that your school currently does to address the part of the policy assigned to your group. • Group A: Section I: Involvement of Parents in the Title I Program • Group B: Section II: School-Parent Compact and Section IV: Accessibility • Group C: Section III: Building Capacity • As a group, chart the responses to the section assigned to your table.
