  1. The Analytics Cloud builds on the IBM Smarter Planet initiative by offering the latest Business Intelligence and Predictive Analytics software and services to academic researchers and NYS companies of all sizes, including IT companies. Marist will host the Center and provide the IT services, including hardware, software, training, and consulting services. As a stakeholder in this proposal, IBM will supply state-of-the-art Business Analytics software, including Cognos and SPSS Modeler software products.

  2. The Cloud Computing and Analytics Incubation Center, a first-of-its-kind, will work with companies on early-stage IT projects, particularly those related to Cloud Computing, Analytics, and their associated technologies. The Incubation Center will be available to companies and non-profits, allowing them to access and explore cutting-edge software and hardware technologies, working with a team of experts, with the goal of developing and testing ways to deploy the new technologies in commercial Cloud Computing environments.

  3. The Workforce Development Cloud will provide critical education and training, through the Cloud, in Analytics and Cloud Computing, as well as other critical areas, leveraging the work already begun by the NSF-funded IDCP, and utilizing the existing z/OS Knowledge Center, and the Virtual Computing Laboratory (VCL) housed at Marist. The new and existing workforce development courses and programs delivered through the cloud would be rolled out statewide through the NYS Department of Labor Walk-in Centers or One-Stop Centers.

  4. 2013: Our First Year’s Record • Held two full 60 Hour BTP cycles, one in spring 2013, the other during fall 2013. • Enabled: • the creation of 10 new businesses • 14 start-ups • 21 retained businesses • 65 retained and/or created jobs • supported 59 young businesses across an array of enterprise types.
