  1. Vocabulary Photo Project By: Charles Pinzone and Michel Macuga

  2. Belie Scarecrows are used to protect crops from unforeseen visitors. They are decoys and belie a human presence so as to scare away birds.

  3. Callous My toe callous is a result of my jumping during volleyball. The insensitivity due to the callous allows me to continue jumping with equal intensity for long periods of time.

  4. Debilitate Thor’s hammer is a mighty power only controllable by Thor himself. This hammer effectively takes away the strength of Thor’s enemies.

  5. Debutante My mother was a debutante on her wedding day. This day marked her entrance into society’s next stage of life: marriage.

  6. Decorum Not usually following the school dress code, Dom Natale decided to, one day, follow proper school decorum.

  7. Hamper While walking through the hallway, I came across an obstacle. This immovable wall blocked my path and hampered my forward motion. No matter how hard I tried, this wall would not move and I was left immobile, not knowing how to continue forward.

  8. Iconoclast Pirates are the perfect iconoclasts. Destroyers of hopes, plunderers of treasures, and wreckers of ships, buildings, and ports, pirates contradict many established beliefs.

  9. Ignominious David Petraeus, a four star general and former director of the CIA, is publicly disgraced as details emerge of his involvement in scandalous behavior.

  10. Nadir A few more feet and I will reach my destination: The nadir of NDCL. At the end of this long, dark, cold, and lonely descent, I will have reached this lowest point, the bottom of the stairs.

  11. Obliterate Surrounded by adversaries, King Kong could only resort to the obliteration of the encroaching airplanes.

  12. Abstruse Calculus is not the easiest subject to understand, in fact, some may never even grasp the idea of it. That is why calculus, to some, is completely abstruse.

  13. Absurd Mrs. Mack is in charge of these lipsticked crazies in her block one class. She thinks these boys are absurd.

  14. Bedlam Every time the robotics team meets, it is chaos as everyone tried to do 10 different jobs for the same robot with only three computers.

  15. Cacophony Is that the mighty NDCL lion roaring? No, it is simply the countless sounds coming from the construction area. All the hammers, drills, and saws make such an awful noise!

  16. Edifice Thousands of bricks make up the very large building of NDCL. When close to the building, it is very imposing.

  17. Eclectic In this design by one of the many talented NDCL art students, many shapes, colors, and textures come together to create a self portrait of the artist.

  18. Fabricate This robot is currently being produced out of many different materials by the robotics team. All of the parts must work together to create an efficient robot.

  19. Gamut The NDCL parking lot, during a normal school day, is the resting place for a massive range of cars. From Honda to Hummer, from white to black, the parking lot has it all.

  20. Talk about confusing! This is what is hidden behind all of those nice white tiles in the hallway ceilings. It is unknown how anyone could find the one wire they need. Labyrinth

  21. Magnanimous The Christian Leadership class is having a drive called “Adopt-a-Platoon”. It is very generous of them to give up their time in order to create better living conditions and raise the spirits of our brave soldiers.
