  3. Goal: To provide knowledge about the first day of sixth grade. Why? -To make sure you have knowledge to answer your sixth grader’s questions. -To make sure you have the confidence to answer yes when your child asks, “Do you think the first day will go well?”

  4. Basics: -7 periods 55 minutes each -6th Grade Hall - A hall -6th first lunch 10:43-11:13 -Lunches are by grade level -Agenda required - Communication Tool -Pawprints, North News, School website, -Progress reports 3 weeks – 74 and lower -Portal updated – constant access -Curriculum Night – September 3, 6:00-7:30 pm Students May Bring Their Own Technology EDMODO: Training TBD Training video will be posted on the website soon

  5. First Day Schedule Prior to First Period Morning Drop Off -Back Bus Loop (Buses Only until 7:30 ) -Front Loop -Outer Lane Drop off by Curb Only -Inside Lane Drive Through -Students Need Parents to Cross Through Parking Lot Everything Speeds up After the First Week

  6. Dropped Off -Students Report to Cafeteria -Wait in Cafeteria Until First Bell -Teachers in Cafeteria Morning Duty -Ask teachers if have a concern -Release at 7:30 -Walk to 6th Grade Hall -Go to locker and report to first period

  7. First Period 7:40 – 8:37 • Meet Teacher • Go Over Portion Student Handbook • Bring Supplies to First Period Teachers • Unopened • Expectations and Fun Activities • Bell Rings • -Go to locker or • -Restroom or • -Get a Drink or • -Talk to Friends or • -Straight to Second Period Remember Classes are in the 6th Grade Hall Most Students Travel a Short Distance During Passing Period

  8. Second Period 8:41 – 9:40 Meet Teacher Go Over Portion Student Handbook Expectations and Fun Activities Bell Rings -Go to locker or -Restroom or -Get a Drink or -Talk to Friends or -Straight to Third Period

  9. Third Period 9:44 – 10:41 Meet Teacher Go Over Portion Student Handbook Expectations and Fun Activities Bell Rings -Go to locker or -Restroom or -Get a Drink or -Talk to Friends or -Straight to lunch

  10. Lunch Bring Your Own Purchase in the Cafeteria Pay with Student Lunch Account Pay with Cash Seating -Adults in Lunch Room -Our Goal Make Sure No One Eats Alone -Introduce Kids to Each Other -Go Over Few Announcements

  11. Fourth Period 10:43 – 12:17 Lunch – 6th Grade First Lunch 10:43 – 11:13 Meet Teacher Expectations and Fun Activities Bell Rings -Go to locker or -Restroom or -Get a Drink or -Talk to Friends or -Straight to fifth period

  12. Fifth Period 12:21 – 1:18 Meet Teacher Go Over Portion Student Handbook Expectations and Fun Activities Bell Rings -Go to locker or -Restroom or -Get a Drink or -Talk to Friends or -Straight to sixth period

  13. Sixth Period 1:22 – 2:19 Meet Teacher Go Over Portion Student Handbook Expectations and Fun Activities Bell Rings -Go to locker or -Restroom or -Get a Drink or -Talk to Friends or -Straight to Seventh Period

Release and Pick Up Bell Releases -End of Day 3:20 -Students Go to Lockers -Head Out to Bus or Car No Cars in Back for Afternoon Pick Up All Buses Bus Pass Needed for All Riders Parent Pick Up Front of School -Two Lanes -Students Crossing Use Cross Walk -Adult Will Give Them Okay to Cross -Use Side Walk to Cross Parking Lot

  18. Drop Offs -Front Office -Name on Item -Slip Sent to Student’s Class Checking In and Out -Front Desk Sign In and Out -Parent/Guardian Must Be Present -Return Sign Back In with Parent/Guardian

  19. Bad Weather Emergencies • We can only release students to guardians in the portal • Once we are given the lock-down code from the district/weather channel we cannot let anyone in or out of the school building
