  8. Bathroom Students are permitted to use the bathroom throughout the day. At the beginning of the year I send students by tables or pairs. If it is an emergency the students are always able to leave the room to go to the bathroom. I encourage all children to try to use the bathroom at the appropriate time as well as going before school to avoid missing important directions or instructions.

  9. Discipline We use the No Bullying Policy in the school handbook for major issues. We follow all the detention and suspension steps in first grade. Please review this policy with your child to ensure they understand the consequences.

  10. Classroom Discipline Bucket Filling- Students work hard to “earn stars” for their buckets. When they are being good listeners, following directions and doing their personal best on their work they can earn a star for their bucket. When the students “fill” their bucket they will get to pick a prize from my prize box. This form of positive discipline works the majority of the time. If a student makes a bad choice they will be a warning to change their behavior. If the behavior continues I will ask them to change their card to yellow and a note will be sent home. If the problem persists the students will turn their card to red and their parent will be notified. All children are going to make mistakes and that is how they learn. If a note does come home please don’t panic and realize that we all learn from our mistakes. I really believe by having the “Bucket Filling Behavioral System” students work hard to make “good choices” in our classroom.
