  1. Sharing the Gospel The Word of God and the Holy Spirit

  2. Fish Facts • “The Bible is alive , it speaks to me; it has feet, it runs after me; it has hands, it lays hold of me.” (Martin Luther) • “God uses a mighty, threefold power team to open the hearts of unbelievers and bring them to Himself: the Word of God, the work of the Holy Spirit, the witness of the believer.” (Darrell Robinson)

  3. The Word of God • A primary issue for discussion in the postmodern culture is the nature of truth. • The ultimate source of truth is Jesus Christ. • God has designed His Word in such a way as to accomplish His purpose and desires. • When a person hears the Word, their life will be impacted. • Witnessing is spiritual warfare. Our battle is with Satan.

  4. What the Bible States (1 of 2) • Ephesians 6: 11-17 11”Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the tactics of the Devil. 12 For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens. 13 This is why you must take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand.14 Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest, 15and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace.16In every situation take the shield of faith, and with it you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is God’s word.”

  5. What the Bible States (2 of 2) • John 8:31-32 31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, you really are My disciples.32 You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” • Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feetand a light on my path.

  6. The Holy Spirit • Effective witnessing also depends on the work of the Holy Spirit. • Always remember that during a witnessing encounter, “the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say” (Luke 12:12). • You will respond to the Word of God if you are prepared. • The Bible also says, “The Holy Spirit…will bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you” John 14:26). • All things Jesus has said to us is found in the Bible. • You prepare, the Holy Spirit empowers.

  7. How The Holy Spirit Works - Lost • He convicts of sin (see John 16:8-11) • He enables the sinner to see the Savior (see John 15:26) • He brings the lost from death to life (see John 3:5-6)

  8. How The Holy Spirit Works-Witness • He goes before him (see Acts 10:1-15) • He gives him boldness (see Acts 4:31) • He literally guides the conversation, if allowed (see Luke 12:12)

  9. Developing a Personal Testimony • My life before I made a commitment to follow Jesus. • How I came to know Jesus personally. • My life since I came to know Jesus personally.
