Since 2007 charities and community groups across Uist have secured more than £2 million in National Lottery Good Causes funding.

The funds have been used to fund workshops, purchase equipment, pay for staffing costs, upgrade facilities and carry out feasibility studies.

If volunteer hours were paid at national minimum wage (£6.19 per hour) then the wage bill would be more than

£2 million per year
