  3. Shift in attitude… • Beatniks-Reefer Madness-Film Noir • Counter culture • Vietnam War..soldiers bring home drugs • Share with family/friends • Drugs hit younger generation

  4. A shift in drugs… • Alcohol and Marijuana • In the 1960’s and 1970’s, more hallucinogenic drugs..heroin, LSD • Musicians/Flower children-Drug generation

  5. Another Shift • 1970’s/80’s the country is introduced to cocaine • Nightclubs • Sexual revolution • Cocaine associated with higher society b/c of cost • 1980’s Crack is introduced –cost less, more addictive • Attack on urban areas • “War on Drugs”

  6. More recent Shift • 1990’s-2000- • Prescription drugs • Heroin reappears • X/Date Rape Drugs/Raves • Oxycotin • Meth
