This week we begin work on Unit 4: Tourist Destinations.

The first session looks at:

  • how to get useful reference materials, and

  • the research skills you need


Sources of information

  • Travel and tourism magazines, journals and other publications

  • Learning resource centre texts

  • TV travel/holiday programmes

  • Web sites (FCO, CIA, UN, WTO, WTTC and many others!)

  • But be careful over using Web sites in particular

  • Can you trust the information you get?

  • If not already done so, students should visit…

  • countries of the world

  • continents and regions

  • sources of reliable travel information

  • To know that the information you get is reliable

  • Gather information about the countries you identify

  • Investigate travel options in the UK and EU
