IT Staff Survey Spring 2012 Hoshin Planning Single point of compass Alignment towards a single goal Background 187 staff, 4 locations, 2 personnel systems 2.5 years ago Performance planning “casual” Comment at all-staff meeting: “executive team can do [say] whatever, but we need to just continue to do our jobs to move things forward.” Translated as: You guys don’t provide much direction [value], but keep doing what you’re doing and we’ll do the same and status quo will prevail; everyone is happy and fine.”

Pros/results Cons/drawbacks Single point of failure w/data expert Somehow not capture something significant Once we get to a relatively high number, lose focus • Managers are more serious about managing. • Addressed/ing authority issues • Updated JD and performance plans • Increasing alignment and focusing on deeper issues Question/Comments?
