Assessment Practices • Head of School is course authority, but delegates to lecturer in charge of each course • School administrators responsible for timely provision of results to Student Admin systems • NSS records input grade (usually mark) and grading basis, these together define official grade • Reports express results as mark/grade • Direct result input to grade roster requires fixed grading basis and is very slow for > 30 students • Upload from Eccles system converts mark/grade to input grade/grading basis data model

Features of the Eccles Assessment System • Spreadsheets can be obtained early in session and maintained as a markbook • The enrolment list is guaranteed to be up to date • Allows mark/grade entry and formula generation • Flags invalid grades or mark/grade combinations • Can import from and export to WebCT or custom spreadsheet • Submission is tamper-resistant • Macintosh functionality limited by Microsoft’s unstable Office tool implementation

Results Review After the submission deadline… • Concession algorithm is run, converts some FL/GP to PC • Assessment Review Reports are available shortly afterward • School staff print the Assessment Review Reports • Late entries continue to reduce the effectiveness of the review • Schools may finalise LE, WD or WC results through enrolment request • Other changes go through UNSW Student Services
