  4. Student of the Day privileges • 2-3 photos • Use special equipment • Special chair • Special privileges • Leave first • Pass out papers • Free homework pass • Other suggestions

  5. Student of the Day Photos • Every 2-3 weeks, open class with slide show of photos. • Save photos in folder to desktop • Open and View as a slide show • Edit and rotate photos as needed before student viewing • Builds class unity and community

  6. Awards • Good behavior—weekly • Great techniques—weekly • Hard worker—weekly • Smiley—weekly

  7. Interim Awards • Student of the Month—highest average • Photo on bulletin board • certificate

  8. End of 9 weeks awards • Student of the Month—highest average • photo on bulletin board • 2nd & 3rd highest averages • Perfect attendance • Best behaved • Most improved • Best helper

  10. Awards • Students love to receive recognition! Think of all kinds of things to use for awards: • Birthdays • Outstanding work on an assignment • good citizenship • being a teacher helper • helping a fellow student

  11. Awards • recognitions for outside achievements--sports, 4H, dance • Grade Changing Award--most improved grade • On time and ready • Stumped the teacher award • best artist • technology support award • A Tip of the Hat--student who is extra polite

  12. Fun Activities • Tongue twisters about your subject • Have students create a tongue twister about the last topic you studied • Team/pair competitions

Celebrations Create an excuse for a celebration: • everyone completed the homework • everyone passed an objective • end of testing • a month of no tardies • everyone passed quiz or test Celebrations can be as small as a piece of candy or 5 minutes of talk time. They can be as big as a pizza party at lunch or recess.

  16. Cheers • Students love cheers. • Celebrate completion, participation, or acquisition of skills or knowledge • Truckers cheer • Fist in air, pull down twice saying Whoo, whoo. Then put fist to mouth for CB and say Good job, good buddy. • Roller coaster cheer • Chig, chig, chig to top, then whee down the hills • Fireworks cheer • POW upwards, then cheee, cheee downward

More cheers • WOW • 3 fingers W, Open mouth, 3 fingers W • Fantastic • Squirt bottle 3 times, then make circle with flat palm and say Fantastic, Fantastic! • Give yourself a gold star • Kiss index finger and touch to forehead • 2 Adjectives cheer • Choose 2 words/phrases and repeat (Wow! Keep it up)
