  2. The term plumbing means installing and repairing pipes and fixtures, including pipes for handling waste water. • In agriculture mechanics, all work done with pipe and pipe fittings is considered to be a part of plumbing.

  3. Why is Plumbing important in Agriculture? • Many of us are use to the common conveniences of having plumbing systems in our homes, schools, and stores. • What was life like before plumbing was installed… • Had to use outside outhouses • No running water for showers or cooking • Collected rain water to use • Had to carry water from a well

  4. What are some uses of plumbing in Agriculture? • To clean/bathing • To cook with • Water Animals • Drinking • Sewage • Refrigeration

  7. Hacksaw- Used to cut PVC, CPVC, and ABS Pipe Teflon Tape- Used to wrap around threads to prevent leaking Pipe Cement Solvent – Used to assemble PVC, CPVC, and ABS pipes

  8. Plumbing Tools • Sand paper- Helps in smoothing the end of the pipe after cutting it • Clean Cloth- Wipe off excess solvent cement

  9. Tri-Square-Helps in cutting the pipe square • Tape Measure (yardstick)- Used to measure pipe for cutting

  10. Many of the modern conveniences we enjoy are due to plumbing. • Water is brought into buildings and waste water is taken away through plumbing systems. • If proper techniques are used and the correct procedures are followed, these materials will give many years of service.
