  4. Creating an ECS Account • Use Internet Browser to Access:www.isbe.net/ECS • Click on “Create New Account” button Illinois State Board of Education

  5. Creating an ECS Account • Enter SSN# • Enter SSN# again to verify • Enter Last Name • Click the “Next” Button Illinois State Board of Education

  7. Creating an ECS Account • The next steps asks you to verify personal and address information on file at ISBE; or to enter the information if it is not on file • Click the “Next” Button Illinois State Board of Education

  11. Creating an ECS Account • Select your Career Status • If you are not currently employed in an Illinois Public School several steps will be skipped • Click the “Next” Button Illinois State Board of Education

  17. Apply for Your Entitlement Certificate • After graduation you will see a message stating that you have an Entitlement Certificate waiting for your application on your ECS Home Page Illinois State Board of Education

  18. Applying for Your Entitlement Certificate • Click on the Message Link-or- • Click on the Applications Menu Item and then the Entitlement Certificate Application Link Illinois State Board of Education

Applying for Your Entitlement Certificate • If the column labeled Entitlement Complete is “Yes”…then you can Apply Online by clicking the “Apply Online” • If the column labeled Entitlement Complete is “No”…then you have to wait and apply later when your institution has completed your entitlement recommendation Illinois State Board of Education

Applying for Your Entitlement Certificate • Click on the “Yes” selection to confirm citizenship* • Click on the “Next” Button if a U.S. citizen *If not a U.S. citizen you must apply through a Regional Office of Education using form 73-03C or 73-03D and 73-91 and show proof of legal presence and eligibility for employment. Applying for Your Entitlement Certificate • Steps 3-8 are Background Questions; answer each question truthfullyby selecting the option • Click on the “Next” Button *You must answer the child support question even if you do not have a child or child support order. If you are more than 30 days delinquent you must apply through a Regional Office of Education using form 73-03C or 73-03D. Illinois State Board of Education

Applying for Your Entitlement Certificate • If your institution recommended you for a Type 10 Special teaching certificate you have the choice to have the certificate split and receive a Type 03 Elementary and Type 09 Secondary certificate • Make your choice • Click on the Submit Button Illinois State Board of Education

  25. Applying for Your Entitlement Certificate • The certificate application fee is $30.00 plus $1.75 convenience fee • Accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express Illinois State Board of Education

  31. Applying for Your Entitlement Certificate • If Certificate is not issued because of testing deficiencies you will be sent a deficiency letter and your certificate will automatically be issued when you take and pass the appropriate test Illinois State Board of Education

Applying for Your Entitlement Certificate • When should you apply for your teaching certificate? • You may begin the application process now… • But you will not be able to submit your information until you have been informed by ISU in a letter that your certificate is ready.   33. Registering Your Certificate • Click on the Register Certificates menu item • Click on the Register Renew Certificates link under issued certificates list Illinois State Board of Education

  36. Registering Your Certificate • The registration fee for an initial teaching certificate is $20.00 plus $1.75 convenience fee • Enter your Credit Card Information and click on the “Submit” Button • Follow the steps to complete the registration Illinois State Board of Education
