Our Community’s Future • The Scott Community Foundation’s mission is to ensure that Scott County and the surrounding communities continue to be a great place to live, work and raise a family • Preservation of local wealth to provide community resources needed for sustained growth and prosperity • Partnering with donors to meet their philanthropic goals • Create and build endowed funds – with principal invested and annual earnings utilized within the community.

  3. How We Started “I believe it is the generous spirit of our people which has made Scott Community a great place to live. We have so much to be proud of and grateful for and yet we can do so much more when we all contribute to the greater good of this community.” - Karma Huck, Scott Community Foundation Board Chair • Began in 1987 with a group of local leaders starting the Scott County Health Care Foundation • Over the next 13 years raised $400,000 through bake sales, auctions and dances • In 2000 looking to meet the community’s needs the by-laws and mission were amended • Allowed expansion of philanthropic interest to education, recreation, history, the arts and other special projects • Since 2000 the Scott Community Foundation has – • Distributed more than $2 million for Community Projects • $150,000 in unrestricted grants • Over $200,000 in scholarships to local students

The Scott Community Foundation provides the perfect vehicle for our community to meet its ever changing and growing needs. – John Fairleigh, Community Member • Invest in What You Know! • Through the efforts of the Capital Campaign the Scott Community Foundation will: • Help local organizations continue to provide services to our community through grants and gifts • Assist the community of Scott with future projects that will meet the needs of our progressive community • Have a more visible location to better serve our community and provide essential tools for all individuals and groups to be successful • Ensure the citizens of Scott will be able to improve their community and preserve the foundation on which Scott was built

What Your Donation Will Do • Increase funding for community grants • Ensure Sustainability of Foundation Operations • Allow growth and proper management • Cultivate Community Volunteerism • Provide continuity of programs • Meet current and future needs of community • Build on generosity and strong leadership of our Foundation’s history Our goal is to be able to increase the amount of grants, as well as fund our organization’s expenses by using only the income generated by investments. In order to meet this goal we MUST INCREASE the amount we have invested. – Loren & Sidney Janzen

Would you like to make a difference? • Your tax deductible donation leaves a legacy for you and your family – a way to memorialize your parents, your family, or your mentors. • There are several ways you can make a difference • Your gift can be made with cash, securities, stocks, real estate or land, commodities, life insurance, retirement accounts or other appreciated assets • Make a one time donation • Make a quarterly or semi-annual gift pledge over the next 2-5 years • Pledge an annual gift amount over the next 2-5 years • Leave our community in your estate plans

  8. Our Promise to You Use the dollars entrusted to the Foundation to their fullest extent. Work with you to realize your philanthropic goals. Create opportunities so that everyone can participate in the growth of our community. Attract, build and manage permanent endowment funds in a prudent and principled manner.

  9. Our Promise to You I believe the Capital Campaign is important to assure the future of the grant process and viability of the Scott Community Foundation. The Foundation serves as a great vehicle to give back to the community and involves lots of caring people to fulfill its benevolent goals. – Duane Ramsey – Capital Campaign Chair Invest time and money into projects that address the current and future needs of area residents. Increase awareness and public engagement on important issues and projects. Continue serving donors, nonprofit organizations and the community as a whole. Ensure the needs of the community are met by the Foundation for generations to come.

  10. What Gift Are You Most Comfortable Making

  11. Named Endowed Fund A donor, whether an individual, family, or business, can establish a named endowed fund. The earnings from the campaign endowed funds will be targeted to the unrestricted fund of the Scott Community Foundation. The Named Endowed Fund: • Can be started with a minimum commitment of $25,000 to be contributed over 5 years • Will forever remain intact and provide earnings to support Scott Community Foundation • Will provide a legacy for you, your family or business Recognition • Annual listing as a named endowed fund • Listing on the foundation’s website • Annual overview reporting the impact of your fund within foundation operations • Invitation to a special event honoring all major donors of the Scott Community Foundation
