  2. TIPI TEACHINGS The circle of Earth at the base of the TIPI represents the whole of our mother, EARTH

  3. TIPI TEACHINGS The poles represent the nations of peoples upon this living Earth, Cree, Ojibway, Dakota, Dene, etc. As the points in the circle are infinite, all the Nations of Earth fit in this circle.

  4. TIPI TEACHINGS We have a separate place where each pole stands upon this Earth that shows we have different languages, foods, medicines, governments, etc. but we have a common bond through the Creator. We were made separate (different) but equal upon this Earth. We each have Original Instructions to follow to uphold life on Earth but all paths lead to the Creator. When one Nation of people tries to make all others like itself (to speak their language, follow their path to the Creator) it would be like moving all the poles to one side of the tipi. Could the tipi then stand?

  5. TIPI TEACHINGS OBEDIENCE means accepting guidance and wisdom from outside of ourselves, listening to traditional stories,our parents/ guardians so that we know what is right and wrong.

  6. TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS RESPECT means giving honor to our Elders and fellow students, to the strangers that come to visit our community. We must honor the basic rights of all others.

  7. TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS HUMILITY means we are not above or below others in the circle of life.

  8. TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS HAPPINESS-after the tripod is up, the fourth pole completes your doorway. This fourth pole teaches us happiness.

  9. TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS LOVE-if we are to live in harmony, we must accept one another as we are and accept others.

  10. TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS FAITH-we must learn to believe and trust others, to believe in a power greater than ourselves.

  11. TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS KINSHIP-our family is important to us. This includes our parents, brothers, sisters and extended family: grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

  12. TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS CLEANLINESS-means spiritual cleanliness, not personal hygiene. Clean thoughts from a clean mind and this comes from our spirituality.

  13. TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS THANKFULNESS: we learn to give thanks; to always be thankful for the Creator's bounty.

  14. TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS SHARING-we learn to be part of a family and community by helping with the provisions of food and other basic needs.

  15. TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS TIPI TEACHINGS STRENGTH; not physical strength but spiritual strength. Learn to be patient in times of trouble, not to complain but to endure and show understanding.
