  2. According to the the National Association of School Psychologist (NASP): School psychologists help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. School psychologists collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community for all students.

Psycho-educational Evaluations: |•| |Intelligence Test, Achievement Test, visual-motor skills assessment, Social-emotional assessment | |•| |Behavioral Observation| |•| |Behavioral Assessment (i.e., FBA)| |•| |Parent Interview| |•| |Teacher Interview| |•| |Consultation with other special education providers| |•| |Consult with other outside professionals | |•| |Child Interview|

  4. Interdisciplinary collaboration is critical for educational decision-making As a school psychologist, I collaborate and collect information from the perspective of the teacher, parent, other specialists, and the student before making critical decisions such as classifying a student with a disability and recommending special education services.

  5. School Counseling Services Effective school counseling services involves collaboration with teachers and parents. Crisis intervention also involves collaboration with parents and teachers.

  6. Response to Intervention (RTI) Collaborative RTI Team: Guidance counselor, School Psychologist, IEP teacher, Teacher making referral, parents. Meetings are held on a weekly basis Teacher fills out RTI referral forms that list strengths, weaknesses and strategies already implemented in the classroom. RTI team problem solves to develop strategies for implementation in the classroom RTI team decides whether child’s needs can be addressed in Tier 1 classroom intervention or with Tier 2 (1:3) extra intervention or if needed Tier 3 (1:1)intervention Teachers are provided with feedback and support if needed
