  2. The Right Question • Luke 18:18 And a ruler asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

  3. The Right Person • “Good Teacher, 19And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.

  4. Matt 17: 22-23 • As they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men, 23 and they will kill him, and he will be raised on the third day.” And they were greatly distressed.

  5. John 10:17-18 • 17For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. 18No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.”

  6. John 11:25-26 • 25Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

  10. ½ is pretty good • You shall have no other gods before me. • You shall not make for yourself a carved image • You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain • Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy • Honor your father and your mother • You shall not murder • You shall not commit adultery • You shall not steal • You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. • You shall not covet

The wrong response • 23 But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich. • 29 And he said to them, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, 30 who will not receive many times more in this time, and in the age to come eternal life.”
