  • Mentoring is a relationship that helps an individual to grow and develop

  • When done properly, it fosters student engagement

  • It provides a support base and a sounding board for mentees

  • It helps students navigate the system that can be overwhelming

  • It is a two way relationship

  • Return phone calls and email promptly

  • Approach your mentor about issues you need to have resolved

  • Let your mentor know areas that you need assistance

  • Show interest in your academic progress

  • Communicate professionally if there are differences of opinion

  • Contact the Changing Lanes office to resolve issues with your mentor
