NDC Project cont’d… Phase 1: Asset Management System August 2009- Docs Scanning July 2010 – DMS (Case 360) -Petrad Support Phase II: Web Server Phase III: Seismic Data Loading Apr. 2010 - Seismic Data QC & reformatting with Petrad Support Phase IV: Corporate Data storage Well info, logs, surveys, interpretation data • Phase V: Data interpretation • Geosoft Oasis Montaj for gravity & • mag .interpretation • Used in 14t gravity interpretation

  9. NDC Project cont’d… Phase 1: Data Scanning Retrieve, Catalogue, Organize , update worksheet Bind QC Scan documents

  10. NDC Project cont’d… Phase 1: Data scanning & asset management system status • Asset Management System Status • Data Scanning – 86.5 % • Customization of document management system done – Case 360 • Data loading commenced in February 2011 • Target completion date – June 2011

  11. Data Management Challenges • Challenges • Funding – Hardware and data management systems • Data Standards – Contents , Formats, metadata • Data Management Processes • - Data Quality Assessment, Date Receipt, Storage and Distribution etc • - Data Security , Retention & Disaster Recover • Incomplete legacy data –e.g seismic data without observer logs • Data Media and format changes making current media obsolete • Data management technical staff capacity - NDC project staff changes • IT infrastructure • -Data growth + new systems require storage, memory, backups and ICT support planning.

  13. NDC- Future Activities • Phase 1 : Document scanning (14%) and quality control • Phase 1: DMS – data loading and indexing (50%) • Phase II: Web Server • Phase III: Seismic database setup, quality control, reformatting, digitization, data loading • Phase IV : Corporate Data • Phase V: G & G Software frame work / Data interpretation
