  1. Christmas Is….

  2. I. Christmas speaks of REMEMBRANCE Christmas speaks of a definite time of REMEMBRANCE This is the time “set” by God for His children. God sent forth His Son.

  3. II. Christmas speaks of a definite time of REDEMPTION Only God can redeem a life from the grave.

  4. III. Christmas speaks of a definite time of RESURRECTION. At the proper time: Just as Jesus’ first coming occurred at the precise time God wanted, so also His second coming will be at God’s appointed time.

  5. IV. Christmas speaks of a definite time of RETURN

  6. V. Christmas speaks of RESTORATION • We are saved from the penalty of sin by Christ’s death • We are saved from the power of sin by Christ’s life within • We are saved from the presence of sin by Christ’s return • The world will be re-created; The Garden of Eden will be restored.

  7. Just as God sent forth His Son for a predestined Mission…. Even so, God sent forth His Spirit for a predestined Mission: to indwell you8 and seal you with the Father’s Kingdom. Restoration: Your soul has been redeemed (re-created) and you are awaiting the redemption (restoration) of your body.

  8. The Holy Spirit is revealed to us in Scripture as the Divine Birth Agent, and He produces not only the birth of Christ by “coming upon” Mary, but He also produces the birth of Christ’s body, the church. And the Holy Spirit has “come upon you” in salvation. Let Him lead and empower you and look for opportunities to encourage others and speak about Christ.

  9. Christ comes to us in the PRESENT TENSE He comes to us by His Spirit and ENTERS our lives and reproduces His character IN US and LIVES HIS LIFE THROUGH US. So, even though we look back at His first coming at Christmas, and we await His second coming in celebration, there’s really NO END to the birthing activity of God’s Spirit as He continues to form Christ IN US.

  10. How can the freshness of Christ’s birth be in your life today? Romans 8:1-4: The Spirit of Christ accomplishes many things in the lives of those who are open and receptive to Him. There is freedom of the Spirit and it is evident in our lives: • Our consciences are free from guilt; we need not feel the compulsion to earn God’s approval. • We’re free from the tyranny of human judgments about our personal worth and importance. • We’re free to love others because we are secure in God’s love for us.
