  5. Courses Approved for both Standard and S/U Grading • Standard Grade Mode is the default grade mode for the course • Impact on Credit/No Credit and HCLA REMINDER Do not enter course default grade modes at the section level. Doing so will stop the ability for colleges to process HCLA

  7. Reminders…… • Apply grade mode at the section level BEFORE advanced registration • If changes are made to the section AFTER registration has begun • Contact FMS and OAR immediately • Any student registered before the change is made, must have their record manually fixed by OAR

  9. New Honors Grade Modes Starting Fall 2005: • Differentiate between the grade mode used for grading honors-only sections from the Honors Credit Learning Agreements (HCLA) • H – Honors • L – Honors Learning Agreement UIUC

New Honors Grade Modes • This new change still allows faculty to: • Assign honors grades to HCLA students • Assign standard letter grades to HCLA students who have not met the conditions of the HCLA • Provide for improved processing of grade assignments for honors-only sections • Prepare for future changes in Web for Faculty so only the grades applicable for the student will appear in the drop down box for selection

  12. Gradable CRN Facts…. • Instructors submit grades for the gradable CRNs only • At grade roll ONLY the gradable CRN moves from Registration to Academic History • Impact GPA (hours earned, quality points) • Credit and grade mode are important • Print on the official transcript

Grading Honors – Only Sections • Instructors can submit either: • Honors Grades • (A+H, AH, A-H, B+H, BH or B-H) OR • Standard Letter Grades • (A+, A, A-, B+, B or B-) NOTE: Grade substitution rules will automatically assign the honors grade for grades of B- or higher (A+H, AH, A-H, B+H, BH OR B-H)

  16. Honors Credit Learning Agreement (HCLA) • Allows a 1U student to take a section of a course, which is normally standard letter graded, for honors credit • Once approved, the COAR will change: • Student’s Course Grade Mode to L • Course Registration Status (Stat) to RH (Registered Honors) • Indicator to instructor on Web grade entry that the student has an HCLA

Honors Credit Learning Agreement (HCLA) • At grade collection, instructors should: • Submit an Honors Grade if the student has met the conditions of the HCLA • A+H, AH, A-H, B+H, BH, B-H OR • Submit a Standard Letter Grade if the student hasnot met the terms of the HCLA • A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, etc

A reminder….. • Grade substitution rules will be applied for students not registered for honors credit, but are assigned an honors grade • If an instructor submits an ‘AH’ for a student who is not registered for honors credit, the student will receive an ‘A’ after grade substitution rules are applied at Grade Roll

Prior to Grade Entry • Make sure instructors are assigned to ALL gradable sections • Review your class rosters SFASLST – Class Roster form in Banner View Direct – Class Roster LIS (Fall) SR1RST801S • Credit, grade mode, students enrolled • Make sure all HCLA are entered before Web Entry has been enabled

Monitor Grades Submitted • SFASLST – Class roster with grades • View Direct – Missing Grades – Statistical • SR1MSGR01B – Full Term ** • SR1MSGR02B – First Half (part of term A) • SR1MSGR03B – Second Half (part of term B) • SR1MSGR04B – Extramural (part of term XM) **Displays CRNs for ALL parts of term

  24. Review Grades Submitted • Class Roster with Missing Grades • SR1RSTM01S – View Direct • Displays all courses where there is at least one student not graded by the instructor • In Banner, SFASLST – Class Roster • Grades entered by faculty will display on the class roster

  25. View Grade Corrections • Grades are not official until the grade roll has been completed • Grade corrections submitted after grade roll will not be reflected in Registration or Web for Faculty • Grade corrections can only be seen in Academic History
