    5. Learning Log Can be tedious but..... If you keep up to date with it, the task is not so mammoth It doesnt need to be an essay Involves learning the art of reflective writing As time goes on, you will find it more useful Try and write a variety of entries encompassing the different curriculum headings Aim for 2 entries a week

    8. Hospital placements Think how the placement will be useful to your future in General Practice What skills/learning needs you can gain from the placement Think about referrals sent in from GPs Try and attend clinics

    9. Role of clinical supervisors Hospital attachments Help you achieve your learning needs with regard to that placement Give support and advice Address problems in the placement

Role of educational SUPERVISORS/TRAINERS Help you achieve your learning needs Give support and advice Prepare you for a future career in General Practice Will be responsible for your training in your ST3 year Get in touch with them soon Your responsibility for arranging these meetings Go armed with ideas about what you would like to achieve-short and long term goals These can then be entered into your PDP

GP placements Make the most of this time Sit in with other members of staff Arrange other placements in areas you feel deficient e.g. Dermatology clinic, O+G clinic GPwSI clinics CBDs/COTs/MSF trainees responsibility to get these done Videos dedicate 1 surgery/wk Dedicate surgeries where you practice consultation skills or models/CSA skills

    12. GP placements Read up guidelines/ around cases you see- it sticks better, helpful for AKT Familiarise yourself with management aspects of the practice Attend practice meeting Sit in with practice manager QOF and why it matters Audit

    13. ST1/ST2 learning Sets Wednesday lunchtimes 1230 Content Generated by yourselves Hot topics Audience participation and group work/speakers Tailored to the groups needs and feel free to request certain topics Various topics both exam related and to life as a future GP

    14. learning sets Attendance will be monitored - but PDs expect a 'professional' attitude i.e. informing people in advance if you have A/L or S/L and giving apologies if sick Gives you a break in the week from your placement Useful opportunity to meet your peers -> support/advice re:exams/whats going on e.g. courses

Study leave Think early about other courses/interests you want to develop e.g. DFSRH/ implanon/coil insertion/minor surgery/ diploma in geriatrics/DRCOG/DCH Must do a BLS course/refresher essential Management module Study leave budget available Use wisely and take up opportunities in the area e.g. GP updates Skin club Paediatric updates

    16. Residential Aimed at ST3s Fun and well worthwhile 2 days Targeted around CSA (theory around consultation models, simulated patients) As well as a bit of fun, getting to know each other better and recreation/pampering

    17. Summary Keep up with your eportfolio otherwise it will catch up with you Dont leave everything till ST3 it is such a busy year already Keep in mind throughout your training about what niche you may want to develop in General Practice and then take the opportunities Enjoy it
