  5. Some of the buildings were badly cracked, and cordoned off. Cathedral in the center of the city – some damage. Tree ferns in Botanical Gardens Christchurch has a definite English feel about it. Many brick and mortar buildings were damaged during the quake, with some infrastructure damage that was immediately attended to. Some people lost their homes. We just had power out for less than 24 hours. Christ College needs the crane to stabilize the stone facades.

  7. We bike in beautiful, traffic -free parks and reserves along the Pacific, on the Spit, in forests where they log, and wetlands: Travis Wetlands Our mountain bikes. This trail was left with wide fissures after the quake, but it was soon repaired. Our Honda “Fit” with bike rack BexleyReserve

  8. We walk and hike (tramp) in nearby parks, reserves, along the beaches. Our house Unique fence crossing stiles.
