Testing Schedule
  • Testing English Language Arts/Reading and Mathematics must occur on consecutive school days.
  • The administration of the English Language Arts/Reading and Mathematics assessments does not have to occur during the same week and/or consecutive school days with end-of-grade Science assessment at grades 5 and 8.
  • Testing two subjects on one day is prohibited.
  • EOG assessments should be administered as early in the school day as the school schedule permits.
  • All students at the same grade level within a school must be administered the appropriate end-of-grade assessment at the same time on the same school day.
  • Students at different grade levels cannot be administered assessments in the same classroom

All students in membership at grades 3-8 (according to NC WISE), including students who have been retained at grades 3-8, are expected to participate with or without accommodations in the standard administration of the end-of-grade assessments in English Language Arts/Reading and Mathematics.

All students in membership at grades 5 and 8 (according to NC WISE), including students who have been retained at grades 5 and 8, are expected to participate with or without accommodations in the standard administration of the end-of-grade assessment in Science.

    • Students participating in the NCEXTEND1
    • Students participating in the NCEXTEND2 English Language Arts/Reading, NCEXTEND2 Mathematics and/or NCEXTEND2 Science assessments
    • LEP students scoring below Level 4.0 Expanding on the W-APT are not required to participate in the English Language Arts/Reading assessment, but are required to participate in Mathematics and Science assessments
    • Students deemed medically fragile because of a significant medical emergency and/or condition

Exceptions:

Students with current IEPs identified as LEP scoring below Level 4.0 Expanding on the state-identified English language proficiency reading placement test and are in their first year in U.S. schools are not required to be assessed on the reading part of the NCEXTEND2. Students are required to participate in the mathematics and science tests

Students granted a medical exception

To be Eligible for NCEXTEND2:

Must have current IEP

Does not have only a current 504 Plan

If LEP, must also have a current IEP

Is not identified as having a significant cognitive disability

Is not receiving instruction in the NCSCS through theExtended Content Standards

Is not likely to achieve grade-level proficiency within the school year covered by the IEP

  • Prepare for and attend training.
    • Read Assessment Guide (formerly known as Test Administrator Manual) thoroughly.
  • Read and study the Testing Code of Ethics (purple sheet).
  • Complete and submit REQUIRED Testing Plan (yellow sheet).
  • Read and follow test security procedures.
    • Copying secure materials (including gridded response charts for MIB)
    • Accounting for and storing materials
      • Only TC and backup TC may have access to secure materials.
      • Materials must be returned and accounted for daily.
  • Train proctors – Proctors may not
    • be alone with test materials;
    • pick up or return materials;
    • be relatives; and
