  4. Our role… • Support the community (via our email list) • Organize CCW • Provide technical co-sponsorship to meetings • Represent your interests • Coordinate your requests

TCCC Mailing list • Goal: to support the TCCC membership • Promote technical discussions of computer communications issues • Provide information on relevant IEEE issues • Provide a venue for community discussion • Currently supports the wider network community as an open bulletin board for meetings, journals, job posts • Recent effort to keep posts broadly on-topic

  8. TCCC Outstanding Service Award • Awarded to:Roch Guerin • Awarded for outstanding service to the TCCC and its community, through its meetings, publications, and organization • To be celebrated at CCW‘09 • 2008 committee: Sonia Fahmy, Bulent Yenner, Tatsuya Suda (past awardee)

Computer Communications Workshop • http://www.ieee-ccw.org/ • 2.5 day, panel-based • Held at various times, organized as: • a medium-attendance workshop, with groups of technical presentations as panels • a small-attendance retreat, with groups of position presentations as panels • CCW 2009: Lenox, MA, Oct 18-21, chair: Bulent Yener

Technical Co-Sponsorship • current process is vague • TAC suggests the general guidelines & procedure • Considering adopting process from ITC, TCHSN • Proposed requirements: • In-scope • Largely peer review (3 reviews) • Appropriate TPC • Appropriate accept rate history • Prior to submission deadline • Visible, nonprofit budget

  11. Distinguished Lecturer Program (DLP) • TCCC may propose distinguished lecturer candidates every year • Serves the communty to give presentations • Costs supported by the IEEE Comm. Society • Deadline and process to be announced

  12. Supporting Member Grade Promotion • IEEE has various member grades: • Student, Member, Senior Member, Fellow • Promotion requirements (TBV) • Senior = Member + 10 years + visible contributions • Fellow = Senior + distinguished contributions (<X%) • Require letters of support at/above new grade • TCCC will provide clearinghouse for support • Anyone can volunteer to be visible • Coordinate areas of contribution

Conference/WorkshopNo-Show Policy • Requires a non-student registration • IEEE Comsoc discounts do apply • Student discounts do NOT apply • See IEEE Comsoc website for papers/registration • No-Show • Previously had no effect on Xplore • Now at the meeting chair’s discretion • May remove paper from Xplore • AUTHORS MUST BE NOTIFIED BY CFP
