  1. Wielding By Alex Alvardo

  2. Description of Job • Welding is when you melt metal & put them together. Its used to build & repair parts of a car, air planes, ships & etc. Some welders work at railroad shops & high departments • Some welders use computers & robots to help them work & others do it at home

  3. Math Courses Needed for This Job • For this job you need a high school diploma. You can also go to Vocation schools, trade schools, junior and community colleges for training, they have training for welders

  4. Examples of Math in this field • Like plumbers, welders always use their knowledge science & math. They also make calculation to know fuels or chemicals to use. • You also need to keep track of your hours so you need to get your numbers right. • A good welder can tell you how many times 3/4 goes into four and a half without having to look for a calculator • Welders say “measure twice and weld once” because it will save you time

  5. Create a Word Problem • I'm a welder, I been working for 6 hours straight & get paid $75 an hour. I need to know how much money I get paid.

  6. Answer to your Word Problem • I been working for 6 hours straight & get paid $75 an hour. Which means I’m getting paid $450.

  7. Reflect I'm surprised that welders can work as many hours they want but it all depends on what your working on. The hard part about it is that I need to be good at math & science. I also need to be good at problem solving & calculating which I'm not really good at. I have to be fast if I'm doing this job but I think it will be a little bit easy because I'm better at doing things physically.
