What is Sewa UBC?
‘Sewa’ is the Sanskrit word for ‘selfless service’.
Sewa UBC was founded by a few students pursuing higher education in UBC about two years ago to reach out to those not presented with same opportunities in life. Our ‘selfless service’ of choice is to support the rural communities to educate children and to provide with other necessities of life.
Sewa UBC currently sponsors an organization called "Ekal Vidyalaya - A people's movement" designed to bring among other things basic education to rural part of India.

Ekal Vidyalaya, instead of battling the massive overhead costs of establishing schools in these locations , operates as a 'mobile school'. Their philosophy is to have teachers and resources move between villages and provide quality education without high costs.
To pursue this lofty goal we have joined forces under the banner of an international non-progit organization, Sewa International. With the primary message that "service to humanity is service to God", this organization is entirely run by volunteers who dedicate their own time to run and organize charity projects on the global scale
